With a line up of models just as elegant as the dresses, Atelier Versace's fall collection is a fantastical wonderland.
photos: VOGUE.com; photographed by Kevin TachmanThe Paris couture shows are in full motion, with brands like Dior and Chanel sending down impeccably made pieces (more on those soon!). But it's the dark elfin fantasy world Donatella Versace created for her fall couture collection that still has everyone swept away.
The models really looked other worldly, think Lord of the Rings-meets-Game of Thrones-meets-Stevie Nicks. Hair softly waved adorned with tough flower crowns and smoky metallic emerald eyes, this Atelier girl is a seductress. A tough seductress. She will temp the soldiers before she goes in for the kill. Lethal. The clothes fully encapsulate that idea. Lara Stone, who stomped out to an oh-so-fitting song by the Doors, opened the show in a lilac, asymmetrical, chiffon gown with matching patent leather go-go boots. The sleeves are long and demure, but the pair of cut-outs on each side along with the plunging neckline say otherwise. This is felt throughout the collection, with juxtaposition in every look. It would not be a Versace show without skin, yet it would also not be one without class. AB
