Style Icon: Twiggy

She re-defined fashion and was the original supermodel. Her look alone inspired a generation. Twiggy is the 1960s. She wrote the book on Mod style in her super short mini-dresses, sleek bob, and Mary-Jane's. With her baby-doll eyes and lanky frame, she melted everyone's heart. She put the swinging in the Swinging 60s, and we're still following her lead.

Remembering Maya Angelou

This week, the world lost a beautiful soul. Poet, author, modern-day Renaissance woman Maya Angelou pasted away Monday at the age of 86. To pay tribute to the legend, here is just a fragment of her bountiful wisdom.

Style Icon: Jane Birkin

Jane Birkin is the original English It-Girl. She blasted open a space in our hearts for the Alexa Chung type girls we love today. She killed with her wide-eyed gaze peeking through her wispy chestnut bangs. She and long-time lover Serge Gainsbourg reshaped fashion in the 60s and 70s; hitting the streets in matching all-sequin frocks and their signature pea coats. Jane, herself, broke the fashion rules in see-through mini dresses, her signature basket, and her overall cool, bohemian style. To this day the world cannot get enough of the lovely Ms. Birkin. And who could blame them?

Debby Ryan Went Platinum. And We Can't Get Enough!

credit: Kristin Ess
Disney sweetheart Debby Ryan has busted her "good girl" shell this weekend by going totally platinum. The color is a huge departure from her usual hue, an auburn sometimes coppery mix. She took the plunge while on break from filming her hit show Jessie with a little help colorist to the stars Kristin Ess. The new look is all in preparation for the release of her debut album with her band, Debby and the Never Ending. The album is set to drop June 24th featuring their latest single, "When The Dark Falls." New music. New look. New Debby.

Chanel Resort 2015

Dubai is booming, become one of the most powerful cities in the world. So it's only fitting that Karl Lagerfeld bring an extravagant Chanel runway show to the newest "It-city" on Earth. The collection was full of Middle-Eastern flavor: Islamic tile prints, red and white checked dishdasha patterns,  and intricate Indian style bead-work. Lagerfeld mashed classic Indian silhouettes with the iconic sense of Chanel. The hair and makeup were highly dramatized; with big voluminous hair, a small headpiece, and dark, dramatic, and jeweled eye makeup.

Style Icon: Brigitte Bardot

Brigitte Bardot is a true style icon. She was that perfect mix of quirk, bombshell, and class. She made every women in the 50s and 60s long to be French. She lounged on the beaches of St. Tropez in her signature ittsy-bitsy bikini, with the wind blowing through her coveted golden locks. Women to this day long for "The Bardot" look. Blonde bombshell #1. Legend till the end.

Music Monday - Sam Smith

photo: getty images
Sam Smith. Do you see that name? Remember it. Lock that pup down in your brain bank because this guy will be legend. Chances are you've heard Smith's insane range flood the air waves on the infectious track "La La La" with fellow Brit-hit Naughty Boy. But believe me, there is so much more. If you haven't heard of Sam think of him as Adele's musical twin spirit brother! He released his absolutely stunning Nirvana EP in October 2013. In October of the previous year Sam collaborated with British brothers Disclosure for the melodic yet dance-y tune "Latch". His highly anticipated debut LP In A Lonely Hour is due sometime this month. Until then we will just have to keep the other tracks on replay. No harm in that..

Happy Mother's Day!!

Well, unless you're living under a rock today is Mother's Day! Now I know it's Sunday - the day of rest and all - but I have three things that you absolutely must do today. One: give your mother a hug and tell her you love her (no matter what). Two: make her breakfast, or a cup of coffee to show her you care. Three: take this moment to enjoy some fashionable mommas we all love.

Style Icon: Anita Pallenberg

I've decided to start a new weekly series, called "Style Icon," to showcase some of history's trailblazers in fashion and my personal idols.
So for the first post of this series, I could only think of one woman: Anita Pallenberg. Known best as the girlfriend/lover of most of the Rolling Stones, Anita took 70's London by storm. Part flower child, part rock 'n' roll, she wore embroidered shawls, printed mini-dresses, and her signature shag coat. Her style was as intoxicating as her personality. Can you see why the Stones fell in love with her? Now if only there was a way to travel back in time...
